Bells Canyon

This hike happened to be a little later at night then I wanted.
Headphones where in. Podcasts were going.
Then I hear "click.... click... click...rustle.... rustle... click"
I am too afraid to turn so I keep hiking. I hike a little faster thinking to myself will I be able to out run whatever is behind me? The trail is narrow and steep and icy though.
I thought about how I could beat the living daylights out of the thing with the bottom of my sharp snowshoe. But would I be able to pull it off in time before I was pounced on? I try to not breath so I can hear which side of me it's on. I think of all the bear attacks I have read about. But don't bears hibernate? I curse my memory. Could be a moose. Those things are scary.

The click/rustle noise gets faster. "What the?" I say to myself. It is keeping up with me...
At this point I can't stand it anymore and I slightly turn my head but yank my eyeballs to the furthest point they will go to my left so that I don't have to turn my whole head around... you know because what if the thing comes to my right.
But wait, the noise stops. Ewwww. I am scared. I keep hiking. The noise starts again. I stop. The noise stops. I start. The noise starts. Then I realize it is just a strap from my backpack and hitting the ipod in my pocket. Ah.. relief. My heart settles. I take a picture of how happy I am about this discovery.

Following this I think about how the swiss army knife I carry in my first aid kit has not been sharpened since... girls camp? I need to get it sharpened.

I would get a gun permit and take target practice. Then maybe you could enter the Olympics. Meanwhile, you need to find a snowshoeing companion.
