Marrakech Day 1- Souks

This was our first night in Marrakech. We arrived at our Rihad and met Frederich and Said to discuss some initial concepts.

This was our little Rihad near the old part of Marrakech. It was pretty charming... but smelled or cat pee and there was a litter of cats roaming around and I had the WORST allergies! And unfortunately the manager didn't speak any english (and I no french).

The next morning we ventured into the Souks with Said and Fred. I was so excited!

This was Said negotiating prices for my Moroccan rugs. He was the best!

I wanted this rug so bad it still hurts but it was just too bulky to fit into a bag to take home.  Heartbreak.

Sometimes the backs of the rugs were prettier then the fronts.

Stacks on stacks of rugs. One could spend months going through all the stacks.

The Cape of Good Hope

We had a meeting with a designer south of Cape Town so we decided to take the rest of the afternoon and go to the Cape of Good Hope. Basically the bottom of Africa. (not really but we were close!)
The drive down was incredible. The woman we were with told some horrifying stories of Baboons breaking into peoples houses. So freaky! We saw some along the side of the road and took some pictures through our tightly closed windows and locked doors.

I asked this man to take a picture of me. He said he had an iphone and knew how to use it.
By the look on his face I could tell he had no clue if he was doing it right. He finally muttered something and handed the phone back to me. I had at least 20 pix of this dudes face and one of me.
Thanks dude.

It's so crazy beautiful here this was definitely a highlight of the trip.
